Strategic Planning

I led and supported strategic planning projects in the healthcare industry for different service lines, such as family birth, oncology, weight management, and neurology. Here is a high level description of the planning stages.

Identify Challenges

I led the strategic planning project for the Family Birth service line by conducting a comprehensive gap analysis. This included gathering data from internal and external sources, as well as conducting primary research and market intelligence assessments. I synthesized findings into a SWOT analysis. One key root cause identified was that several hospitals had closed to new admissions, which directly affected patient access and negatively impacted satisfaction—underscoring the urgency to address capacity and continuity of care.

Set Strategic Goals

After identifying key challenges and opportunities through the gap analysis, I partnered with service line leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to define strategic goals and propose targeted initiatives. We translated insights from the SWOT analysis into actionable objectives—such as improving patient access—and ensured each goal directly addressed identified challenges. I facilitated collaborative goal-setting discussions to align initiatives with operational needs and service line priorities. Each initiative was then evaluated based on its impact, urgency, and feasibility, resulting in a short list of high-priority action plans.

Implement Initiatives

Once strategic goals and action plans were established, I supported the implementation phase by coordinating cross-functional efforts and aligning resources. I collaborated with operational leaders to assign initiative owners, define clear timelines, and establish success metrics. Throughout implementation, I provided regular updates to leadership and facilitated feedback loops to monitor performance, address barriers, and refine initiatives as needed—ensuring each action remained aligned with the broader strategic vision.
